Meet the Board
Our board members come from different backgrounds but share the same passion and dedication to the Old Tavern and its history. We contribute our talents, time and energy to the effort to Save The Tavern and are all paid members of the Friends of the Old Tavern.

Erin Ruth Cicero, President -
Ms. Cicero is co-founder of the “Save The Tavern!” effort. A resident of Madison Village, Erin is a native of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and has had a lifelong interest in history, which she attributes to her mother’s training as a history teacher. She earned her bachelor degree from Indiana University in 2004 and relocated to Ohio, where she was employed in the field of production control. Erin’s passion for history, interest in design and architecture, and her attention to detail have been beneficial in her leadership role in the Society. She has chosen to leave the work force to be a stay-at-home mom as well as work on behalf the “Save The Tavern!” effort. In addition to her various responsibilities, she has started compiling a history of the Unionville Tavern through research and building the society’s collection of Tavern artifacts and memorabilia.
Marcus Petersen, Vice President of Project Management-
Mr. Petersen is co- founder of the campaign to “Save The Tavern!”. He is a native of Madison Township and still resides there. He is a graduate of Madison High School, and later attended Lakeland Community College and the Ohio Center for Broadcasting. He has been employed in the field of land surveying and engineering, since 2005. Marc has a great interest in the local history of Madison and Unionville and he enjoys collecting historic artifacts and memorabilia. His extensive knowledge of our community and its history are great assets to the Society.
Brian Horgan, Vice President of Operations/Media Relations -
Mr. Horgan is a native of Painesville, and currently resides in Harpersfield. He graduated from Youngstown State University, and pursued post-graduate training as a physician assistant, in Baltimore, Maryland. Mr. Horgan has practiced physical medicine, rehabilitation, rheumatology, and pain management, since 1987. He served as a board member and committee chairman for numerous years with the Maryland Academy of Physician Assistants. During his tenure, as public education chairman, he earned three consecutive national public education awards. He received his master’s degree from the University of Nebraska. Mr. Horgan has a passion for American history, as well. He has been a long-standing member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and has served as a camp and department officer. In addition, he serves as the medical officer for the Army of the Ohio, the largest Civil War re-enactment group in the state of Ohio. He is also a member of the Sons of the American Legion.
Kimberly Sedmak, Director of External Affairs-
Ms. Sedmak is a Harpersfield Township native and a graduate of Geneva High School. She studied political science & communications at DePauw University and received her Master’s degree in Journalism from American University. Kim has managed her own private production company, and has also worked with the major television networks, including PBS, ABC, & NBC. Most recently she served as the Executive Producer for a monthly series with AARP and The Today Show hosted by Jane Pauley. She has been involved in historical preservation, as she restored Ferry Neck Chapel, built in 1856, her home on Maryland's Eastern Shore. For her work, she and her husband Bruce Lee received Maryland's Talbot County Historical Preservation Trust Award in 1994.
Given her experience and talents, Ms. Sedmak is tasked with facilitating governmental and external affairs on behalf of the “Save The Tavern!” effort.
