August 20, 2012 - We want to congratulate Harriette Hydinger of Harpersfield for winning our summer raffle! Harriette and her husband had their wedding rehearsal dinner at the Tavern in 1971. Harriette has received a set of dishes used at the Tavern during the 1930's and 1940's when the Tavern was owned and operated by Arthur and Hulda Fritz.
The dishes were donated to The Unionville Tavern Preservation Society by Lowell Keairns, grandson of Arthur and Hulda, for us to use to help raise funds for our efforts. The money raised from the sale of raffle tickets went towards fees associated with hosting the August 4th presentation by Cathy Nelson of the Friends of Freedom Society, Inc - Ohio Underground Railroad Association. Thank you to all those who purchased tickets!
